UKRAINE RESPONSE
The beginning of the War in Ukraine was chaotic and a very difficult environment to navigate. We became partners with the Ukrainian Territorial Defense and established the first of many Trauma Stabilization Units on the frontline. Our time was spent treating the wounded and collaborating with Ukrainian doctors, nurses and medics, to create trauma care in a low resourced austere environment.
USS navy comfort: jamaica
Working with the US military to reach the people of Jamaica, we set up clinics near Kingston that provided medical, dental and ophthalmologic care. Treating over 700 patients a day, as the line to see us would start forming the night before. On the hospital ship the naval surgeons operated on 120 Jamaicans.
Mosul, Iraq: Operation Iraqi Freedom 2017
Working with multiple NGO’s and the WHO, we staffed a Trauma Stabilization Unit on the frontlines of the battle for Mosul against ISIS. Living and working alongside the Iraqi military, we cared for wounded soldiers and civilians, day and night. This was an eye opening experience to the beauty as well as the horrific nature of mankind.
